SPRING 2023
SPRING: This winter, we will select a small group of players to write our Spring Season program. We will split into three groups of four in order to write the devised works in a similar way to a television “writer’s room.” One player will be the “showrunner” and write the first scene and the others will follow their style. Instructors will support them through this process, offering feedback, notes, and lessons about story and stagecraft. Writing sessions will happen once a week because the players will have work to do outside the scheduled instructional time. Players might be reading to offer feedback, watching a related movie, listening to a podcast, having a coffee shop discussion, or writing scenes themselves. Additionally, we will have one high school writing group that will create a longer play in the same format.
SPRING/SUMMER 2023
SPRING: Sessions (rehearsals) will happen two times a week, for 1.5 hour intensive sessions after school in small cohorts. Times are to be determined. Additionally, if we need time outside of our sessions to work on players’ independent projects, that will be scheduled as needed. Sessions will begin March 13 and go until June 3rd.
ALL players will get the chance to participate in set/prop design, costume design, music, sound design, and lighting design depending on their preferences, skills, and levels of responsibility.
**There will be significant fluidity between groups for interested players.
